How to Be A Hot Beauty In The Cool Summer: Best Tips For Fresh Summer Makeup

When summer comes, sunscreen is the only beauty essential you can freely layer on.  As for most of your makeup stash, they need to take a break this season.  Summer is all about looking fresh sans your usual makeup routine. It’s that time of the year when you have to let your natural beauty shine.

Here are “cool” summer makeup tips that will make you sparkle like a Piña Colada.

  • Go Bare. Well, almost! Your skin won’t be able to breathe under the heat of the sun when you go out fully made up. Plus you will have to deal with smears when you start sweating.

It’s best to go light so you’ll look naturally fresh all through the day.  Remember when it comes to summer makeup, less is more.

Begin by applying a lightweight foundation, BB cream or tinted moisturizer and dab concealer on problem areas only. Next, use a cream eyeshadow on your lids.

Get a nude shade that’s really close to your skintone. Apply cream blush on your cheeks. Choose a hue that gives you a “glow from within” kind of flush.

Groom your brows with a clear or tinted brow gel, then apply a coat of mascara on your top lashes only to open up your eyes.  Pucker up with sheer red, creamy peach, velvet matte or nude lipstick.

  • Switch to Water- Resistant Beauty Products. One way to keep your makeup on all day is to use products that can outlast your exposure to heat, water and humidity.

Skin tends to be oily during summer so if you use the wrong kind of beauty products you will end up with smudge, smear and shine.

Water resistant makeup will not melt away despite the heat or run on your face even after taking a dip.  There’s no need to retouch or redo your beach makeup look when you use products that are specially formulated to beat the heat.

We love Lancôme Hydra Zen BB Cream, Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer, Cargo Swimmables Water Resistant Blush, Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade, Stila Stay All day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner and Maybelline the Colossal Volum’ Express Waterproof Mascara.

  • Skip the Highlighter. When the temperature rises, our skin tends to shine more.  If it gets sweltering hot out there it is best to skip the metallic highlighter so you won’t look like a tin man walking down the street.

At nighttime when it’s cooler, opt to use a cream-based highlighter to get a subtle glow. If you have oily skin we suggest that you skip the highlighter and stick to cheek blush that gives you an adorable summer glow.

  • Keep your Skin Healthy. It will be easy for you to pull off summer makeup look if you treat your skin right.  Get your skin summer ready with good skin care habits.

Exfoliate two to three times a week to unclog pores, remove excess oils and clear away dead skin cells. Drink lots of water to keep your skin well hydrated and free from impurities.

Exercise and eat nutritious food. Get enough sleep to let your skin cells heal and regenerate. Do not forget to put on sunscreen every day. Choose products with broad spectrum SPF 30 and up.

Avoid exposure to the sun’s rays and wear sun shielding accessories like straw hats when you stay out between 10AM to 2PM.

  • 5 Latest Summer Makeup Trends

Makeup trends come and go with the changing seasons.  It’s more fun that way because you get to be inspired to try on new things.  With makeup, you have the freedom to recreate and refresh your look any way you like it.

This summer we urge you to try come out of your comfort zone. Have fun in the sun and look glam while you’re at it.

Here are the latest makeup trends we spotted in Summer Fashion runways that left us oohing and gushing.

    • Bright Eyes. Bright red, pink, yellow and orange were spotted on the catwalk lately. We love this look because it has this “happy virus” kind of effect on people.

How to make your eyes pop with color?  Use a wide flat eyeshadow brush to swipe the makeup on your lids from the inner corner outwards. The end should be aligned with the tail of your brow.

    • Go Natural. Met gala 2019 showed that “no-makeup” makeup is the reigning beauty look this year. Time to ditch heavy contouring, full coverage foundation and blocky brows. Bravely face the world looking au naturel.

Summer is all about flawless dewy skin, neutral hues palettes, sun kissed cheeks, feathery bushy brows and sheen lips.

    • Bejeweled Makeup. Make your summer nights enchanting by using rhinestones to line your eyes, subtly streak your cheeks or cover your lips.

You can also use glitter makeup as eyeliner or eyeshadow to match your bare face look.  Just don’t go overboard with the sparkles so you won’t be mistaken for a disco ball.

The key here is choose one focal point only – eyes, lips or cheeks? For example, if you glue crystals on your eyes, there’s no need to match it with glittery lips.

    • Glossy Lips. Lip gloss made a comeback this year and we couldn’t be happier.  It’s perfect for summer’s warm breeze because it gives your lips a subtle hint of color and sheen.

Leave your matte lipstick at home and choose from the wide selection of new glosses. We are currently fond of shimmery and holographic lip glosses try it on to find out why makeup aficionados are hooked on them too.

    • Bold Red Lips. Go dramatic with classic red lips.  It provides a striking contrast to bare face. Ooze with confidence and swipe red on your lips when you’re feeling worn out by the heat.

Try on Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Fiery, MAC Crème Sheen in Brave Red, NYX Lipstick in Pure Red or Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in 01 Always Red.
