2018 Best Eye Makeup Trends

When it comes to eye makeup, the list of possibilities is endless. We checked the runways, Instagram, Pinterest and Beauty Blogs to find out the new eye makeup trends for 2018.

Here are different ways to make your eyes sparkle alluringly.

  • Smokey Eyes.

It’s time to part ways with 2017’s dark/intense smokey eyes because 2018 calls for a softer version. Soft- toned, metallic, shimmery, purple or peach eyeshadows are the best bets for this women’s signature eye makeup look.

    How to perfect this look?

Begin with an eyelid primer. Use a fluffy brush to apply the eyeshadow base from your upper lash line to the crease of your lids and on your lower lash line.

Next, apply the darker shade from the outer corner of the eye into the crease, about three quarter inwards. Then use a small angled brush to apply the same color on your lower lash line.

Apply a little amount of your base eyeshadow on the center of your lid to add dimension. Lastly, tight-line your eyes with a pencil or liquid eyeliner.

    Try:

Urban Decay Naked Heat Eye Shadow Palette, the Balm Nude ‘Tude Eyeshadow Palette and Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette.

  • Halo or Spotlight Eyes.

This is one of the new eye makeup trends that we are really loving.  By bringing the light to the center of the lids, the eyes magically appear rounder and more ethereal.

To achieve this look, begin by priming your lids all the way to the brow.  Apply a mid-toned neutral shade on the crease to allow a smooth color transition to warmer shades.

Next, apply the medium shade of your chosen palette on the inner and outer thirds of the eye with a blending brush.

Using a tapered blending brush, apply the darker shade of your eyeshadow palette on the inner and outer lids. Blend your eye makeup with a fluffy brush before you apply any light shade (white, metallic or shimmers) on the center of the lid.

Redo the steps on your lower lash line.  Highlight the inner corners of your eyes by adding the same light shade you used on the center of your lids.  Lastly, add liner and mascara.

    Try:

Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Eyeshadow Palette, ColourPop I Think I love You Pressed Powder Palette and BH Cosmetics Supernova 18 Color Baked Eyeshadow Palette.

  • Sunset Eyes.

Your summer nights will never be the same again after donning this breathtaking look made of burnt oranges, bronzes, bright corals and aqua hues.
Get your hands on the latest sunset eyeshadow palettes that perfectly mimic the beautiful summer sunset hues and start painting your lids.

How do you achieve the summer’s most popular makeup look?

Begin by priming your eyes with a bit of foundation or concealer. Apply the lightest color in the palette on your lids all the way past the corner in a winged fashion.

Add the darker shade and blend. Use purple or blue eyeshadow to line under your eyes and follow the shape of your winged upper lid. Highlight the inner corner of your eyes and brow bones.

Add a wing tip on your upper lash line to seal your look.  Make sure that your upper and lower flicks align.  Lastly, apply a coat of mascara on your lashes.

    Try:

Natasha Denona Mini Sunset Palette, ColourPop Yes, Please! Palette, Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette and Maybelline The City Mini Palette Downtown Sunrise.

  • Bold Bright Eyes.

Open your eyes with bright hues in 2018. For summer and spring makeup, there’s no holding back when it comes to color. Shades ranging from vibrant orange, yellow and all the way to oceanic blue are fueling our Instagram and runways lately.

It takes a lot of guts to don these eye colors so if you are ready to make a statement go ahead and embrace this hot eyeshadow look.

    How to rock this look?

You can use the shades for halo or smoky eyes effect.  Or, simply sweep your entire upper lids with your favorite bold eyeshadow then match it with a winged eyeliner for added drama. Make sure that your choice of bright eyeshadow matches your eye color.

    Try:

NYX Ultimate Brights Palette, Mean Girls Burn Book Palette and Urban Decay Kristen Leanne Kaleidoscope Palette.

  • Glittery Eyes.

Feeling a little more daring this year? Cover your entire eyelids with shimmering eyeshadow or swipe a glitter eyeliner on your lower lash line to get this trendy spring makeup look.

You can also go low- key and apply metallic eyeliner as a finishing touch to your already applied eye makeup or make your eyes pop out by simply adding metallic eyeshadow on the inner corners of your lids.

Remember, “subtle” or “full-on” iridescent eyes is all about strategic placement of glitter. You can opt to add metallic shadow/liner on the inner and outer corners for a subtle wink or wow everyone by smudging both you lash lines with glitter.

Quick Tip: Can’t lose with glittery eyes paired with soft or nude lips.

    Try:

Urban Decay Moon Dust Palette, Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish with Stay all Day Primer and Makeup Geek Sparklers.

  • Polished Punk Rock Eyes.

Smudged black liner is trending this year.  How to get this ultra-cool look?

Use black eyeliner to line your upper and lower lids and then smudge till you’re satisfied. Or, you can use liquid eyeliner which you will top with an eyeshadow.

Next, use an eyeliner brush to blend the liquid eyeliner and eyeshadow. After smudging, tight line your eyes by gently applying eyeliner on the base of your eyelashes.

For the finishing touch, coat your eyelashes with a volumizing black mascara.

    Try:

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche in Black, Chanel Le Crayon Yeux and Urban Decay 24/7 Waterline Eye Pencil.
